you can put highlights in you hair a day after you color your hair. you want to wait because you dont want to dry or fry out your hair in one day. when you color your hair when after you wash with shampoo use conditioner and leave it in for a few minutes to help re- moisturize your hair. then the next day put highlights in and use that same pattern. and if you use shampoo and conditioner you should use 'garnier fructis' and they have that for hair coloring to and its supose to be better than the other brands because it doesnt reuin you hair. believe me i use that stuff all the time when i color my hair or just wash it.
