I use a flat iron all of the time, my hair used to be dyed a lighter blonde, but now I'm back to my normal darker blonde.

Anyways, try using Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray. You can find it at almost any store where they sell other hair products and make-up, etc. It works great! Just mist your hair with it before you use the flat iron. It will protect your hair from completely frying it.

My hair has some highlights and stuff in it, but I use this very good conditioner. It's called Loreal Nature's Therapy (It is a Mega Moisture nurturing cream). It's for very dry, chemically processed hair. It softens, nurtures, and moisturizes. It's a classic salon product, it's about $12.00. It's a thick cream that you evenly spread out on your hands, rub it into your roots and then spread it out evenly to the ends of your hair (make sure your hair is towel dried before you do it). Leave it in for five minutes - after that, rinse. You'll see and feel the results instantly.

It'll hurt your hair regardless whether you use your straightener or not, but use a heat protectant to keep it from being more damaged.

IF you color your hair, you are hurting your hair. In order for the dye to be able to get inside your hair cuticle, the cuticle has to open up. Opening your cuticle causes split ends and damages it. When you are flatironing it, you are doing the same thing. The heat opens up the cuticle and causes it to break. So both things aren't good for your hair, so if your doing both then you really need a good product to keep your hair healthy.

I have my hair highlighted and flatiron mine.. it should be fine (as fine as hair can be getting flatironed). :) Make sure to buy shampoo that protects the highlights in your hair from fading.

I just got my hair highlighted by a professional about three months ago and it didn't do anything to my hair. A flatiron will give you slit ends regardless but just make sure you get your hair trimmed regularly and if you find a split end, don't pull it apart!! If you do that to every split end you have, you will have to get your hair cut very short. Good Luck!! Hope you like it!
