well if you know what you are doing it won't turn orange.. you just have to leave the bleach on for the right amount of time.. but bleach is really bad for your hair so be safe and go to a professional

y would you lighten it. Dark hair is so much more exotic than crappy bleach blonde

If it's natural, you can do it. If it's dyed, it won't do much at all.
Naturally, I have brown hair, but I dye it a lot. The first time, it'll dye pretty easily. After you dye it though, the color's hard to noticably change.
