Hair color question....?

I'm naturally blonde, a darker blonde, in the summer my hair highlights naturally and then starts to grow out and look like crap..right about now. Right now it's dyed and has been all year but i'm getting sick of being really blonde and all the upkeep...if I try to go darker..thinking a slighty reddish hue but nothing too dark...should i see a pro or will a box come out ok?

i would go to a pro..going red is tricky and sometimes it wont stay in blonde hair very long

My hair is is the same way. i used box before, but it really dries my hair out. Is there a cosmetology school near you? i go one by me and they do a great job and its a fraction of the cost. oh ans when you have it done use shampoo and cond made for hair that is colored

I feel like we're almost twins! Haha. I think that using a boxed dye is alright as long as you take your time and read the instructions carefully. I tried to dye mine strawberry blonde last year, and it worked and looked good for a while, but one time I wasn't being careful, and it turned a nasty orange color. I think blonde is a really pretty color. Maybe you could dye your hair to match your roots and then as it grows out, see if there are natural red highlights that you can enhance wiht a highlighting kit. If things go bad, see a professional! ;] best of luck!

Red will fade really quickly. It is best to go have it done so you make sure it doesn't come out pink. Also the salon quality hair color will last longer and look better.
