What is a good and not overly expensive shampoo for recently highlighted hair?

I recently colored and highlighted my hair to a very light blonde. Keep in mind I had several layers of icky brown that had more or less washed off in over a year. What would be a good shampoo/conditioner that isn't overly expensive

Some people hate Suave some people swear by it. I prefer to buy shampoo designed for color treated hair as it works best with color treating. If you had a two process lightening then you have some toner which is a form of coloring the hair such that you do not want a clarifying shampoo that will strip it.

try to select conditioners and shampoos designed for color treated, damaged, dry hair. I have used Suave and a variety of other professional and nonprofessional shampoos. Some are better some are worse. Suave does a pretty good job of imitating more expensive shampoos for less money but some people scream when they read this. Yes the really expensive nicer shampoos at the Beauty supply and Beauty Salons are much better. I especially love Redkin as a shampoo and conditioner but it is not very common in this region so I just pick up something I trust not to destroy my hair like Suave if I am not near a Beauty supply or salon. Just try to wash and condition your hair only when needed. And if you can get a good shampoo avoid the conditioner as they tend to make colors and toners/tints come out often unless specifically designed for color treated hair. All color will fade eventually even just from air exposure and sunlight. Such that if you get a brassy color you can buy the shampoos that have a hint of bluing in them that are designed to brighten up white and grey hair because the bluing negates the brassy yellow tones in white hair that is turning white. Often they have a little bit of peroxide in them that brightens up the hair a little bit also so be sure to read the ingredients.

I have used Suave, Dove, Pantene (be sure to use the color type because it is a heavy conditioning shampoo that otherwise may strip out any color or toner), the new VO5 seems pretty good, White Rain, I like Fructis alot but my friend is allergic to it, Redkin products, a large variety of different types. As long as it does not come in a big gallon jug at a discount store today they seem pretty much to be in a good pH range for the hair. Just try to use shampoo designed for color treated hair. Everyone has their favorites. I am really curious as to what was in the body cleanser container at a hotel I stayed at across the border in Ciudad Juarez because it did not dry out my hair or my skin and left my body and hair feeling clean along with smelling good. I prefer the shampoos with vitamins like vitamin E because my hair is very dry. My color tends to fade very fast in the sun so if you have some color wear something to protect it from fade out.

Can someone help me find this washable hair highlight?

You can't get washable highlights...unless its just something that goes ontop of your hair like paint. Highlights come from bleach...if you had blonde hair you could put darker colors in it that would wash out but you can't lighten your hair with out bleach...and I don't mean bleach like laundry detergent you need to go to a proffesional.

There's some at Sally's.

It in a mascara-like container.

You can use a hair paint found at a beauty supply or maybe Hot Topic. There are also some hair gels and pomades that have a lot of color to them. Highlights are a chemical service.

Is it bad to tan after you have just had your hair highlighted?

Just got partial highlights last night and I am wondering if it will be okay to tan today. Anyone know? Thanks

Is it bad to tan after you have just had your hair highlighted?

It will change the color of the highlights. The chemicals from a tanning bed may react to the chemicals in your hair. I would wait a few days. The same goes for swimming in a chlorinated pool.

Is it bad to tan after you have just had your hair highlighted?

i wouldnt recommend it b/c your hair color might change i suggest you wait at least a week before going tanning

Sometimes it does cause yellowing from the rays. It really doesn't matter how long it's been since you got it done.

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same

Because I want to do all those things but I don't know if it is possible to do it all in one setting. Help please?

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

the hairstylist might tell you to come back in a couple weeks or months to get a perm. but you can do highlights, and a cut on the same day. or perm and cut.

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

i dont think u can use all the chemicals on ur hair at the same time but as far as cutting it yeah u can. but im not in the hair business either. ask a pro.......

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

Noooo. You cannot have two chemical things done to your hair at the same time. Also, I would not recommend getting your hair drastically cut and permed at the same time, unless you already have permed hair since you already don't know what it will look like curly.

I have never gotten a perm, so I can't advise you on highlights or perm first. Talk to your hairstylist about what would be safest.

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

You can get the perm, layers and bangs but you might have to go back later for the highlights.

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

You should probably just get highlights and layers first..

Because if you decide you don't want a perm which happens a lot, then you'll be safe..like you can always scrunch your hair and make it really curly and also wear it straight when you want ..but a perm works too =]

Then once you're for sure you want a perm go back whenever you can get another apt.!

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

no...and are you sure about the perm? what type of perm? you should be really specific about that...hair stylists prefer that you color your hair after the perm becuase the chemicals will counteract with each other and eat your hair...not grow teeth and eat, but destroy your hair. if you want to get layers and side bangs, the perm will alter the final look...keep that in mind

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

no ur hair will fall out

Is it possible to get your hair layered, get side bangs, get a perm, and get highlights at the same time?

Well, you should be okay with the layers and side bangs at the same time. The perm and highlights? Not so much. You shouldn't have two chemical services like that done on the same day.

If you are getting layers and bangs, why on Earth would you want a perm? Do you like your hair being a difficult PITA every day of your life? Layers and side bangs, not so compatable with permed, curly hair.

How long should i wait before putting highlights in if i just put a perm in my hair?

wait two weeks so you dont damage your hair.

How long should i wait before putting highlights in if i just put a perm in my hair?

probally about 3 weeks because you don't wanna screw up ur perm. u might just wanna ask the person who gave u your perm.

How long should i wait before putting highlights in if i just put a perm in my hair?

u should wait at least 6 weeks... im a cosmotologist...if u put it in too soon it will fry your hair...

How long should i wait before putting highlights in if i just put a perm in my hair?

Atleast 48 hours, but realistically, about a week or so.

How long should i wait before putting highlights in if i just put a perm in my hair?

Your first mistake was getting a perm after 1980.....and why don't we just leave it at that. Sorry for the honesty :~(

I have a darkish blonde hair color and i want to lessen the dullness with small highlights?

i cant afford to pay for a hairdresser to do them so if i decide to, i wil lhave to buy the do-it-yourself ones. the only thing is, im afraid they will look horrible if i do it myself. any advice?

I have a darkish blonde hair color and i want to lessen the dullness with small highlights?

u should get the Revlon ones they're really good.

I use it all the time.

If u can get someone to help u I did my highlights by myself and they look really good in the front but kind of weird in the back, lol.

I have a darkish blonde hair color and i want to lessen the dullness with small highlights?

Get the kind where you pull your hair through a cap and get someone to help you do it. It gets difficult to do on your own on the back of your head.

Good luck to you. :o)

i would not do it yourself!! color correction is very expensive and the do it yourself dye jobs usually do not look good. highlights shouldnt cost very much especially sense your hair is not very dark.
