I want to highlight hair, what color should i use?

I recently dyed my hair like 3 mths ago, dark aburn, it has lightened alot since, but i want to highlight my hair, its a mixture of brown, redish aburn.. my natural haircolor is dirty blonde.. (dark blonde).. I dont want the brassy orange color, seems like that happens when i dye my hair myself. what do u suggest?

i suggest you go to a beauty salon and ask them but i think u should try blonde highlights because i have also auburn and thats what i did...
