If you have bleached/ highlighted hair how often do you wash it?

I had a hair stylist recommend that I wash my bleached/highlighted hair only twice a week, max. My hair tends to get oily but I don閳ユ獩 want to damage my hair anymore than I already have by highlighting it, so I am wondering if anyone has had this work for them. And how do you keep your hair feeling fresh and clean by not washing it everyday?

You can wash your hair as often as you like, every day or every other day is fine. I wouldn't recommend twice a week, most people cannot go that long without their hair being too oily.

If you are scared to wash your hair b/c you are worried the highlights will fade, then you need to talk with your stylist about what products she recommends to extend the life of the hilites. I am a stylist and would recommend any professional color care shampoo/conditioner, such as Paul Mitchell or Bed Head. Any cheap shampoo (ie. Pantene, Suave, etc.) from a store is going to strip the color right out of your hair and cause it to be brassy. I'm sure your stylist can give you samples for you to try out to see which shampoo would be best for you to use! :) Good luck!

I'm the same way i have oily hair, but highlighted hair. I tend to wash it every other day.

You can wash your hair every two days and keep your highlights fresh and nice Use Pantene purple shampoo and conditioner twice a week....that way you can keep your hair lights fresh and nice and they not gonna lose the color. I have silver hair color and with that shampoo my hair looks great . Name of the shampoo is "Pantene silver expressions" you can find in any drug store...

If you straighten your hair, follow a routine like this

Monday- wash your hair blow dry and straighten.

Tuesday- skip washing, curl your hair..it will disguse the oil

Wednesday- you can either, add more curl, pull your hair back or cave in and wash it. Bumble and bumble makes a powder product to conceal/absorb oil.

The key is to make your blowout last longer...the heat is worse for your hair than the excessive washing. Just be sure to use a good conditioner.
