Hair color help please!!?

Ok i'm wanna get my hair highlighted but need help picking the color...Right now it's a medium/light brown with red tones to it... i want it to look sunkissed and blondish, should i go for an ash blond or a warm blond? I guess what works best for reddish brown colors? I talked to a stylist and she wasn't very helpful and said the spacing of the highlights was more important than the color...err...thanks!!!

Ash can be tricky and come out looking gray and/or dull. I would go with a warm blond.

You should get a second opinion from another stylist.. preferably a Male Stylist.

i have natural brown hair, i've had blonde highlights on brown. i've died my hair blonde and had brown highlights, and i've had auburn hair with blonde highlights. i'd have to say that the auburn and blonde was my favorite. i have side swept bangs and i just dyed my bangs blonde and had my hair auburn. i got a lot of nice comments on my hair.

Your hair sounds nice the way it is, leave it like is now.

ash may turn it orange.... pull your hair through a cap every other hole, every other line... try using a toasted almond H50.... very pretty color good luck

warm blonde would work better.....

just try a lighter form of your hair color a dirty blonde might look good with red

is the red tone from your natural color? if so, you should probably go with the warm blonde hilight. sunny hilights are more warm than cool which is the ash. that will make it look more natural and not so "fake" if you already have a warm color to hair. i hope this helps. i am a hairdresser so you can trust the info. remember too, if you are going to be in the sun a lot, you should tell the person doing your hair because the sun or tanning bed will lighten your hair even more. good luck!!

If you have red tones in your hair you want a warm blond.

That being said you often get a warm blonde by putting an "ash" color on it. It all depends on what color your hair is to begin with not the "name" of the color on the box.

Spacing is of the utmost importance.

ER well I'm a hairdresser and they are both important. Picture a color wheel and that would be your base. green base tones red for example. now level is also important. Sally's usually has swatches to help you pick a level and any hair shop should also. Medium brown tends to be about a level 5. A level 10 is the lightest blond with 20 volume no bleach. (otherwise fried blond no color needs a toner don't really think you want to go there hair) "Sun kissed to me would be about a level 7 if your in the sun a lot because that lightens your hair more no more than 8. 10 is very blond. If your hair was very dark I would use 40 volume to achieve the same lightness. 10 volume is semi-permanent and only deposits color does not lift or go blond. Good for a toner if you get to blond. It's not really easy or you wouldn't go to school for 1800 hrs. plus an apprenticeship of 6 months to become a Master Stylist. Hope I simplified it for you and was able to help. My choice something in the line of Light Ash blond level 8 through a cap or with foils and never ever go over the ends again only the roots unless you change colors. I Still say leave it to the professionals but at least stay with the same color and get a friend to help. if you change color to go lighter on the end after the scalp for 10 the ends. Good Luck

..lets her know if you want all lot or little if you do a lot of high lights when I get mine I get about 60 foills in my hair its very thick......one time I got more than that I did not tell her and more foils made it look like an all over color.......I didn't like that I could not see my natural color...40 foils is a good start you can always add more depending if you want your natural color as the pirmary color...and ashy is a ugly color.........very dull.......go with warm tones

The hair stylist that told you the spacing of the high lights is more important than the color is an idiot. Go to a different stylist. The color is important also. Just my opinion, but I think you should go only two shades lighter with the high lights and go warm with them since your natural color is warm, it has red tones.
